How to delete a variable

How can I delete a variable from the variable table. If I cut the variable, a generated variable name takes it's place. There is no delete option.

Specifics: The variable was created by me from scratch to begin with to perform math to be displayed later in annotation. As I find mistakes or add new variables, sometimes I want to delete old ones.

Yes I can write over the older unused variable with new stuff, but what if it's the last thing I need to do?

I don't want to track every unused variable to make sure I write over it. I just want to delete it at the time.

One reason this is important is that I'm making drafting templates that will be copied 1000's of times when it's complete. No baggage allowed.

Re: How to delete a variable

I seem to be able to select the first box in the row and hit delete and my variable is gone.

Re: How to delete a variable

Bob is right.

Pick on the left-most cell where it says Var or Dim before you hit Delete:

Thank you. That was it.

Also to get rid of the 'extra baggage', here's a utility that can be useful:

A free macro that automatically removes all un-used variables:
