Beam Elements not showing Contour data

I am working on a model that includes beam, solid, and plate elements. I did not create the model, i picked it up from a previous project. When i view Contour data , the solid and plate elements display however the beam contour does not. I have the Multiple Contour Data set to diplay all three. The beam elements show contour colors when Criteria is turned on in the post processing tab.

 

How do I get Beam Contour data to show when I have Contour on? Is there some small box i need to X or am i missing something?

The easiest way to do this is to use the Post-Processing Toolbox, set the Style to Contour, pick an Output Set and Vector for your plates, and then toggle on "Additional Vectors", you can now pick one for the solid elements and one for the beams.  I'm using wingpost, that does not have any solids, so I'll just add plates and beams -

Both the plates and beams will then be contoured -

Since the beams are drawn with one pixel by default, they're pretty slim, turning on shrink will help you visualize them better -

And better yet, turn on Thickness and Cross Section -

Thanks for the input. However I had tried all of those things already.no beam data.JPG

 

 

 

Have all my output vectors set, Thicknesses turned on. I can get the stress data from the Criteria view, but not in Contour view

What version of FEMAP are you running?  I believe this was added in the v11.2 timeframe.  If you are running v11.2 or v11.3, please send me the model and we'll take a look at it -

Also, please do a List - Output - Query, and pick one of those beam elements, I'd like to see what data is available for post-processing.

Currently running 11.1.1. One of the beam elements has all the Output data you would expect for a Beam element, But it does not display in the Entity Info box like the other element types do when selected.

You are definitely going to need v11.2 or above for contours on beam elements.

Wait, 11.1.1 cannot display Beam element Contour data?

That is correct.  In 11.1.1. you can display as a criteria plot or as a beam diagram but not a contour.  That was added for 11.2.  There is an option to display beam diagrams as a "contour" but it's set through View Options and cannot be shown with other element types being contoured at the same time.
