Criteria or Contour Results display for particular set of elements

We are developing training material for internal purposes and initally set out in Femap. As far as I know, Femap does not have the ability to display either contour or criteria results for a selected set of elements like below.

The above screenshot is from Patran. Per my understanding, to get the above result in Femap, I need to set up a group of the elements of interest and have the results displayed. This procedure becomes tedious.

I know Femap folks are revamping post-processing procedures in v12. Please do include the ability to achieve the above results.

Thanks...

Yes you are right. I have the same probelm. I found the solution doing groups but as you said it is a tedious task.

I hope the new version improve this

Hello!,

You need to define a group of the elements where you want to plot stress results, not need to activate it, then you can see the full model, but in CONTOUR OPTIONS select that group, then stress results will be plotted in that elements only, here you are an example:

You can play with different visualization options, up to you!, for instance, I like this one better:

Or you can play also with transparence on elements, properties or surfaces, the result is good as well, for instance here I set a 60% transparence on the set of properties where I don't want to plot stress results:
