Editing a composite surface/curve

Is it possible to use meshing toolbox features to edit a composite surface or curve? I am not able to currently i.e. I can't split a joined curve or surface.

In the above example, I can't edit any of the composite surfaces. If it can't be in Femap, any tips on how I can go about editing a surface which has been joined using the above tools?

Hello!,

I try to avoid the use of COMBINED/COMPOSITE CURVES commads, this should be the last resourse, because as you have experienced the geometry gets untouchable. I suggest to use DELETE command and return to initial state and use the Parasolid commands to edit & simplify the geometry.

Best regards,
Blas.

Hi Blas,

I usually try to avoid composite curves/surfaces, but for very complex contoured surfaces and especially if you don't have the CAD source model, then I think the composite curves/surfaces becomes a powerful utility. It seems like the downside is that Geometry becomes uneditable further.

Can u please elaborate on what Parasolid commands are available in Femap if possible?

Hello!,

By genuine Parasolid I means all commands under MODIFY menu or under GEOMETRY menu. If fails then I use the commands under MESHING TOOLBOX.

Best regards,
Blas.
