Femap 11.4 Crashing/Wont Open

Valued Contributor
Valued Contributor

Has anyone ever came across this issue.

Quick History:

-11.4 Installed a number of weeks ago, approx. 8 - everything working fine

- After 3/4 weeks said problem has risen, where the programme will not open

- Uninstall & Reinstall removes problem and working fine again

- Further 3/4 weeks problem is back

The following has been tried/already done:

- Ran as Admin

- Firewall check - rules set up

- License server is online and correct

Below is a screen capture of the message I get before it crashes - not the most informative. Any suggestions - apart from un/re install.

Thanks

Stuart

Do you use custom start-up view?

In our office, we've seen FEMAP crashes when pointing to custom view library or start-up view.

If using a custom view for start-up, temporarly rename the file (i.e. put a "~" at the begining).

This forces FEMAP to go back to the original startup view.

We've seen it enough here that we don't use a custom view for start-up.  We apply it after FEMAP launches.

I do actually.

I was thinking that it could be some custom item problems - did you experience any other weird issues where it wouldn't open a model unless Femap had a "blank" workspace already in session.

Either way - I will implement loading the view after Femap has opened and hopefully that fixes it (I have already un/re installed it)

Thanks!

We haven't moved to 11.4 yet.

In v11.3.1 I'm able to click and drag models from windows explorer into an empty/blank FEMAP session to open (i.e. from one monitor to another)

No issues now opening a model from a blank workspace or dragging with the view set back to default.

I will update this post - If the problem arises again in a number of weeks.

Stuart_S,

Could you attach your "femap.INI" file?  You'll find it in your femap directory.

This is how it looks now after the reboot, before when I was looking at it during the crashes the view had a callout to load view = 2

Good reminder by RCatania.

You can edit the opening/startup view in the "femap.INI" file.

Forgot to mention, it would also be helpful if we could see your "view.esp" file.

As a test, I edited the .INI file to callout a view that didnt exist hoping that it would crash, but it starts up on default no problem
