I'm trying to reduce the size of NASTRAN input files written by FEMAP by changing all the spaces into tabs. First off is there a reason why this isn't a built-in FEMAP option? Do certain versions of NASTRAN not deal with tabs?
I've heard of the unix unexpand command but it doesn't replace all spaces with tabs, just certain fixed number of spaces (or I'm not using it right).
If anybody has pointers regarding reducing text file size in FEMAP, by replacing all the spaces that FEMAP writes, and still obtain a useable file (for NASTRAN and FEMAP) I am very interested.
