I am not sure if this is a limitation of Femap, but I could not find a way to view output contour values of elements in through thickness of a solid mesh.
I have a very simple bar with a hole, represented by 3D Hexa elements. I wanted to view output contours and if possible obtain distribution of interested result quantity in both throug thickness and across the cross section of the bar.
A couple of images to illustrate the above.
As can be seen, even with Clipping Plane ON, I am not able to obtain visual representation of XY Shear stress distribution across thickness as well as cross-section.
Perhaps, there is another way to get what I want?
If not, perhaps, Siemens/Femap folks can take the above as a feature request for Femap v12?

In 3-D solid models you can perform a contour plot and see results in the surface ...
Or you can do Dynamic cutting & Isosurface plots using the VIEW > ADVANCED POST > DYNAMIC ISOSURFACE command ...
Or for instance you can cut your FEMAP model using F5 > SECTION CUT command and choose between different cuttions options, not too bad ...
