Defining contact for Sol 701

Hello,

 

I have to model an impact on a bundle of tubes. Therefore it is necessary to define contact between all neighoring tubes and selfcontact inside each tube.

Is there any function available in Sol 701 which is similar to the General Contact option of Abaqus?

 

Using the automatic funciton is quite a lot of work, becaus it is also necessary to consider that each tube needs to be considered as source and target.

Hello!,

In the animated SOL701 model below only TWO REGIONS exist:

  • Region#1 (SOURCE): all the exterior faces of all blocks.
  • Region#2 (TARGET): the faces of the wall external frame.

And only TWO CONNECTOR exist:

  • SELF-CONTACT: Region#1 with Region#1.
  • BLOCKS-WALL: Region#1 with Region#2

 

 

Then at the beginning it seems very complex, but sometimes defining contact is very simply and straightforward, give it a try!.

Also, remember to take advantage of symmetry. This will reduce your problem size.
