Modelling Bearing Load : Tension Vs compression Spring


Hi,
I am trying to model a bearing load distribution in a cylindrical face.
how can i model the bearing load distribution within NX Nastran.
Is there a specific element in NX Nastran to model a compressive spring element?
or a proper tension element?

If you have all your bearing faces explictly modeled with solid and/or shell elements,
you can use contact modeling for bearing simulation. This can be done in SOL 101
if small displacement effects are sufficient - and they often are for bearing analysis.
Or you can use SOL 601 if large displacement effects are needed. In either event,
you use BCTSET cards to model the contact.
Alternatively you could model bearing contact with gap type springs which can be
set to have a compressive stiffness and no tensile stiffness. You can use in either
SOL 106 or SOL 601 and would want to include large displacement effects.
