OP2 File Format

I would like to write a program that reads the op2 file. Does anyone know where I
can get the format for this file?

Since NASTRAN was originally developed for NASA, and the source code was in the
public domain, you may be able to get the file format via NASA, however, if the
OP2 file format is a proprietory MSC.Nastran format it may only be available under
licence. The best place to find out would be to write to UGS directly and ask them.
Happy hunting,

Hello George,
You may have found what you are looking for already, but in case you haven't...
The DMAP Programmers Guide describes the OUTPUT2 module and how it writes data blocks
to the file. The PDF document comes on the installation CD or you can view online.
The contents of each data block can be viewed by referring to the NDDL. Per the
Quick Reference Guide, an NDDL listing can be obtained by running NASTRAN using
the following input:
ACQUIRE NDDL
COMPILE NDDL=NDDL LIST
