Pre-load a structure

N/A
Hello all,
I would like to set up the following configuration in SOL 101.
geometry : beam (100m*20mm*10mm)
3 points bending, both ends of the beam fully constrained.
Apply a -0.15mm enforced displacement at the middle of the beam
Then :
Apply a -Z direction force at the middle of the beam (same nodes than
previously enforced).
Observe the cumulative effect.
So far the added force is not acting as I would like, ie. the enforced
displacement prevents the beam from bending more
than the effect of the displacement value I entered.
I s there a way to set up the simulation so that the following scenario
runs :
Apply a given displacement (could be a force as well), then apply a
force (could be an enforced displacement as well).
I fear this is not solvable as linear.
Thanks in advance,
Tamas

Siemens Builder
Tamas,

You cannot do this as a linear analysis because the constraints are changing between loading conditions.

Dear Tamas,
This is a nonlinear static analysis, you need to setup a NX NASTRAN SOL106 analysis using subcases, or a SOL601,106 analysis with Time-Varying loads using the concept of "arrival time", this a very typical situation to simulate a non linear buckling analysis: prescribing a nodal displacement a applying a load you get a small deformed shape to account for geometric imperfections and then apply the real loads over the deformed shape to get model response.
Best regards,
Blas.

Hello all,
I tried this morning SOL106 works fine, thanks a lot.
SOL601,106 wouldn't work it seems I don't have the right license file.
Could you please tell me idf with the following lic file I should be
able to perform SOL601,106?

Thanks a lot in advance.

You do not have a license to run SOL 601. You need to purchase the NX Nastran Desktop Advanced Non-Linear product (NXN120) to run SOL 601 or SOL 701.

That my guess too.
Thanks anyway.
