Canister filling simulation with NX Flow, is it possible?

Hi,

 

I would like to know if it is possible to do a "filling" simulation in NX Flow.

I will try to explain:

The aim is to measure the fillig rate, and the flow at the output.

The problem a simple tank, with a filling tube, and a small hole for ventilation of the tank in order to allow filling (the tube gets filled with fluid so ventilation is required, and the amount of "ventliation flow" will be the bottle-neck for the filling rate).

In t=0 the tank is filled with air, and in the end of the process the tank is filled with fluid (lets say water).

Is such a thing possible in NX Flow?

Dear Assafwei,

Till I know the filling process is not possible to perform in current version of NX FLOW CFD code, we need support of free-surface feature, but I am sure that more soon that later we will have this capability available in NX FLOW in the near future.

 

Currently we support mixing multiple fluids in the computation domain, but with some restrictions, NX FLOW supports models with different fluids in the same model provided that:

  • Each fluid is contained in a separate domain.
  • There is no mixing or exchange between the different fluids.
  • Each volume is solved as a separate fluid domain (a wall must exist).


The solver supports perfect gas mixtures and miscible species. But the filling process is not supported: fluid mass entering in the fluid domain (inlet flow) should exit at the outlet, not remedy!!.
