Description of capabilities for features/bundles?

N/A

Currently on NX4.0.4.2
Next upgrade to NX6 (probably) maybe by end of 2009.
I'm trying to figure out what CAE (NXNASTRAN) capabilities we have, from the featuures
in the license file. I think all the following have *some* analysis capabilities,
I just don't have a clue what each can do. Can someone enlighten me? Or pointtothe
docs where it covers this?
If capabilities change between NX4 and NX6, I'd like to know that too.
1) NX11110 (mach 1 design) bundle, has the following features in NX6 (some "obviously"
non-CAE related removed for brevity):
NX11110_nx_nastran_export
NX11110_nx_spsd_stress
NX11110_nx_spsd_vibration
NX11110_pcf_package_file
NX11110_pstudio_cons
NX11110_pv_ugdatagenerator
NX11110_ug_collaborate
NX11110_ug_nas_des
NX11110_ug_smart_models
2) UG11085 - "NX Strength Wizard"
nx_nas_bn_basic_dsk
nx_nastran_export
ug_nas_des
ug_strength_wizard
3) UG13500 - NX Advanced Simulation bundle
UG13500_id_ext_fem_beam
UG13500_nx_ftk
UG13500_nx_masterfem
UG13500_nx_material_system
UG13500_nx_nastran_export
UG13500_nx_nastran_import
UG13500_nx_spsd_stress
UG13500_nx_spsd_vibration
UG13500_pcf_package_file
UG13500_pstudio_cons
UG13500_pv_ugdatagenerator
UG13500_studio_render
UG13500_studio_visualize
UG13500_ug_collaborate
UG13500_ug_nas_bn
UG13500_ug_smart_models

Ken,
Your UG13500 license is a bundle that includes NX Nastran Desktop Basic. NX Nastran
Desktop Basic includes the following solution sequences:
101 - Linear Statics
103 - Normal Modes
105 - Linear Buckling
106 - Basic Nonlinear
114 - Cyclic Statics
115 - Cyclic Normal Modes
116 - Cyclic Buckling
129 - Nonlinear Transient Response
153 - Steady State Heat Transfer
159 - Transient Heat Transfer
The NX Nastran solution must be launched from within an NX session that is using
the UG13500 bundle.

Jim

Jim -
Thanks for the UG13500 description - what about the others?

Ken,
UG11085 also includes a NX Nastran Basic Desktop Bundle license. This only works
whe launched from Strength Wizard.
NX11110 Includes the Stress and Vibration wizards.

Jim

Sorry if I'm dense, but I've never dealt with Analysis stuff before...

So you're saying:
If I DON'T have the UG13500 bundle pre-selected, and I go into strength wizard,
I should check out the UG11085 license.
I would assign loads/boundary conditions/etc., run the analysis, and view the
results.
I would have all the same analysis capabilities as the 13500 bundle.

As the list you gave for the UG13500 bundle doesn't list "stress" and "vibration",
I'm confused (well, more confused than my normal state:-), does this mean the NX11110
bundle has:
101 - Linear Statics
114 - Cyclic Statics
or is it something else?
Thanks for your help...Ken

Ken,
The same full fledged NX Nastran install is used as the solver for any of these
wizards. When you use a wizard in NX, you can only define the boundary conditions,
etc. that are available in the wizard. When you solve, a Nastran deck is exported
with a bundle checksum in it. That checksum restricts Nastran to running on the
same workstation as NX was running on and using the same bundle license that the
NX wizard used.
So, if you are using the stress or vibration wizard, you will have the NX11110 bundle
active. When you solve, Nastran will use the NX11110_ug_nas_des license.
If you have the UG13500 bundle selected and are using NX Simulation without a wizard,
when you solve, NX Nastran will use the UG13500_ug_nas_bn license. This deck won't
solve with the NX11110_ug_nas_des license because the checksum will not match. The
converse is true as well.
In short, you have 3 separate NX Nastran licenses listed in your original post.
There is one in each bundle. Each license will only work for an input deck that
was generated with one particular bundle active in NX.

Jim
