I am attempting to create a motion simulation that requires different joints to pivot sequentially. What is the easiest way to accomplish this? I know it can be done with motion functions but I cannot find any documentation or tutorials on how to define these functions or create sensors.
Any assistance is much appreciated.
In NX Motion or Simcenter Motion, I recommend using a Profile from Skecth. This has been released in 11.0.1.

In some complex case, you can also use STEP, or combine IF and STEP.
