Point Mass (CONM2) from 3D geo?

To all

Does anyone know if there is an option in NX.CAE 9 to use 3D geometry to create a Point Mass (CONM2) directly (or by association)? By that I mean by selecting the 3D geometry, NX automaticaly creates  a CONM2 at the CofG (of the selected geometry) with "correct" associated data (mass, inertia, etc) and this CONM2 could even be associated with the geo(!)

Thanks

Regards

Not out of the box, but the attached NX Open application does what you are looking for.

Password for the .zip file is "cae"

Sorry about that. I edited my original reply to include the password.

Dear Jim,

Very useful, thanks!, but when I try to run the DLL using FILE > EXECUTE > NX OPEN > and I get the following error:

Any help is welcome, thanks!.

The .dlx file must be in a location where NX can find it. This is in a subfolder named 'application' located under a user directory specified by UGII_USER_DIR or in any directory specified in UGII_CUSTOM_DIRECTORY_FILE.

See the "Environment Variables" and "Application Directory Structure" articles under "Executing NX Open Automation" in the NX Open Programmers Guide.

Creating lumped masses directly from polygon geometry is in the NX 11 plan. The NX Open program formed the basis of the OOTB project work that is currently under development. So, you can retire the use of the NX Open program in a year or two. A benefit to the OOTB application is that the polygon geometry based lumped masses will update automatically when the geometry updates.
