Thermal flow through a thermal coupling



I'm doing a thermal analysis with thermal couplings between parts, and in the post-processing I'd like to know the thermal flow going through each thermal coupling, so as to easily identify where the power is spread and what thermal coupling are important.


I know that we can visualize the heat flux through elements, but I'd like to have the integrated value that goes through the whole interface of a given thermal coupling.


Do you know if that is possible ?

Dear Merlin,

You need to use REPORTS, is really powerful.

In the SIM environment go to SIMULATION OBJECT TYPE > REPORT and in the form you can select PER REGION, or BETWEEN REGIONS, or HEAT MAPS, etc..


  • Per Region: Generates selected thermal solution data or 3D flow data for a specified region of your model.
  • Between Regions: Generates selected thermal and flow solution data between specified regions of your model.
  • Heat Maps: Generates heat flow data between each pair of regions.

For instance, the option PER REGION allows you to select important THERMAL DATA that will be written in HTML & text (*.csv) format in the simulation run directory after completing the analysis, OK?.

I never paid any attention to that report window, I'll try it, it seems just what I was looking for.
