We have been using Solid Edge High school edition for several years here.
Love the software for teaching and learning.
However we always run into the same issue with a lack of a parts library.
We have attempted to use the traceparts library but it doesn't work with the later versions of solid edge so no luck there.
In the end we look again at the university edition of Solid Edge as we would have all of these things.
However we keep coming up that it is just too expensive for a school of our size and income.
I think last time we were quoted $2700 /year for Solid Edge University.
On the other hand the whole Autodesk Suite is only around $2000 for 3 years.
We would love to keep using Solid Edge but we need some kind of alternative for parts.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what our other options might be?

Just having a look now.
Is there any ability to download the standard parts?
I.E. Bolts/Nuts and so forth?
Would be neater at least as we are in regional Australia where internet connection isn't of unlimited speed.
Sorry that doesn't appear to say anything about downloading parts.
It talks about it being available online..
Do you mean that I can download each individual part and put them somewhere for the students to use?
The press release stated " students, researchers and educators – can now quickly and efficiently find and download standard parts from a massive digital database based on CADENAS’
widely-used PARTcommunity technology"
See the top 10 downloads on the right hand column of the page:
I understand that I can download each individual part.
However working out what a student may want for his project and downloading them each individually is somewhat time consuming and it may not be terribly practical for each of them to download their own parts when we are talking 90 odd students at a time doing it on less than perfect intenet connections. I was wondering if there was a download for a part library like this http://www.traceparts.com/users/TPDVD/traceparts-d
Only one that works in Solid Edge. Something more like the parts library that comes with a full version of solid edge.
Warwick, I've reached out to CADENAS and found out they do offer a solution separate from the onine portal called "PARTsolutions base module CAD professional - University".
