Contact Force Extraction (Linear Contact and CGAP)


Ok, so I have both linear contact and CGAP elements in my model. The CGAPs represent a loose bolt which can bottom out if the relative displacements are large enough. The linear contact is a bearing pad which the joint rests on. That is, the linear contact reacts downward pressure, while the CGAP prevents lift-off from the bearing pad.


If the bearing pad (linear contact) does not engage in a given result case, I get no contact force results in my output (even when the CGAP is clearly active). If the bearing pad and CGAP are active (heel-toe effect...) then I also get output in my CGAP!


How can I get reliable force output from my CGAP elements?

Can you share the model? or at least a screenshot of the connection details to help recreate a similiar condition.
