How to model ejection of pressed parts?




I want to know what is the force needed to pull apart a mechanism that is "press fitted".

The real life mechanism is of a plastic injection mold, after the plastic is injected inside the mold, it is cooled and the plastic contracts on the metal mold, when trying to eject the plastic after cooling, a large force is needed, I want to know what is this force.

I have a CAD data of the part and the mold inserts, in the CAD there is no penetration, the mold inserts and the plastic part lay on the same surface.


How can I model this in FEMAP?


I tried with SOL601, prescribing a small initial penetration, but I got zero forces and very small stresses, anyone has any ideas?
