Hi All

 

Why do I get 4402 error when I apply a static displacement to a 2 node system with a PBUSH element in the middle and one node clamped ?

 

Do I need another element ?

Farzad you forgot to add an example file. There are many ways to mess up with analysis, even in 2 DOF system.

I will upload the example, it's just 2 nodes and a cbush element between them, one node fixed the other moves along x or y

Did you constrain the DOF for the node that has the enforced displacement applied?

Is it necessary to create mass on the nodes  ? is  CBUSH element alone enough to create a system that has a certain stiffness and I can apply the imposed displacement to its nodes ?

I did it a quick trial.

 

1 cbush element between 2 nodes with stiffness in  X and Y. Then BC:

- 1 end clamped

- the other end non zero constrain option under constrains: only x and y 1 mm. Rest 0

 

 

If you apply load with dispalcement option, then, I guess you do not have "free" dof to solve the system. You would need more nodes.
