To get a better idea of your model, can you do a /List/Model Info and post that. It will say how many of each entity type you have. Do you have a lot of beams and plates with thickness/cross section switched on?
Another thing to do is to go to /File/Preferences... and in the graphics tab, set the debug messages to all and switch on Elapsed Time. Rotate you model - a lot of timing information will be sent to the message window. If you can post that too it might help.
Beyond those two suggestions, we would need you to file an IR with support and have it sent to Bill in Femap Development. We would need your model file.

So I found the solution to the slow graphical performance, although I have no idea what may have caused it.
The solution was to delete the group I was hiding from view and recreate it. Now it pans and rotates immediately after I start panning/rotating.
I am glad you found a workaround to your problem. I did look at the message window text you posted. I could see nothing wrong with most of it (you were getting about 10 frames a second but that was with the error text on which is quite significant performance drag) - for your size model and graphics card is not ridiculous. I saw nothing in your mode infor listing either - it does have over 600 properties so there is a chance that the search buffer depth (on the /File/Preferences... graphics tab - bottom center) might enable improvement by setting to 0 - but this is not applicable if you are using performance graphics.
Could you describe the exact UI commands that "deleting the group I was hiding from view and recreate it" involve. There could still be an issue in Femap and if you could file an IR with your model (when it was slow) so we can try and find the probelm.

I am not using performace graphics, but setting the search buffer depth to 0 did not help.
The exact UI commands I used are as follows:
1) Post only the group I want to delete.
2) RMB on that group in the Groups list in the Model Info Pane and selecting delete.
3) Create a new group with the same name as the deleted group and adding the posted nodes and elements.
4) RMB on that group and select Add Related Entities.
I will again inquire with my supervisor if I am allowed to send you the model so I can file an IR.

I think the only way we can solve this issue is if we have the original model that shows poor performance.
