NX Nastran Card ID

Where can I know more abou the restrictions of the card ID in Nastran?

For example, element ID has to starts with 1 but not 0.

Correct me if I wrong, CHBDYE element ID has to be larger that the last CHEXA/CQUAD ID. Where can learn more about these kind of rules?

Thank you!

Dear ElaineT,

as no one did answer you until now, I would try to give you my hints.

My own experiences tell me that reading the information in the bulk data entries is the best source for understanding of special restrictions of a nastran file.

If you plan to build your own "nastran generator" it's really important to understand the structure of such a file:

executive control section

case control section

bulk data section

You could read the chapters in NX quick reference guide

Its a good way to analyze the entries of simple examples.

Why do you think the CHBDYE element ID has to be larger than the largest native element ID?

In CHBDYE description I couldn't find such an information.

I hope I could help you.

Best regards, Michael

the QRG will tell you all about it ...

more often than note for each card description there is a note on the numbering system (restriction, etc)
