Hello,

This is my first post. I am investigating NX11 and I'd like to make a very simple case to introduce CFD theory and NX tool to master students at University through some practical lessons.

The idea is to make a pure 2D flow simulation so that students can compare the results with analytical solutions. The case is a 2D wing section.

Is there such a possibility in NX11? I searched for it but I coundn't find anything.

Yes, this can be done with NX Flow.

I searched the online documentation but I found nowhere that case of pure 2D simulation.

What I did is in short

- a sketch

- extrude

- mesh 2D dependent on top and bottom face (Reference CSYS : cartesian / absolute)

- 3D swept mesh from bottom face with element size the same as my extrude length, meaning I have ony one cell on the z axis

- Within the simulation frame, I selected "Simulation object type -> Symmetry plan" on the upper surface, then repeat for lower face.

You can have a look in the screenshot attached.

The result is a pure 2D flow, the w velocity is null everywhere.

Nevertheless, I think the computation is performed with two times the number of dof that it should.

How can I impose that the solution on the upper side shall be the same as the one on the lower side ?

Using automatic coupling? or Mapping Constraints? or Periodic boundary Conditions (I don't find it in NX11)?
