Did you mean:

CBAR VS CBEAM - varying cross-sectional properties?

Gears Valued Contributor

Dear experts,

please have a look at the attached image.

What exactly is meant by “varying properties”?

The expression "properties" confuses me a little. If this word was not used, I would assume it means geometrically varying cross-section.

I would appreciate it, if you could clear this up for me.

Kind regards.

PBEAM specifies only section properties (i.e. A, I, J, etc.), not geometry. PBEAM definition of section properties at end A, end B and up to 9 intermediate stations along the length (specified by X/XB):

Note that PBEAML allows definition of section geometry (i.e. dimensions) at intermediate stations
