NX 10 for Engineering Design is now available as a free PDF download. This 200 page self-guiding tutorial set from Dr. Ming C. Leu, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology, provides a step-by-step approach for users learning NX 10. This curriculum was developed for those with no previous experience with NX, but users of earlier versions of NX may also find this tutorial helpful to learn the new user interfaces and functions. Each chapter has components explained with the help of various dialog boxes and screen images. These components are later used in the assembly modeling, machining and finite element analysis sections. Component files (NX models) are available online to download and use.

The on-line manual begins with NX 10 essentials and then moves to sketching and the design and modeling of parts. Introduction to assembly modeling, free-form modeling, drawing creation and design simulation are covered as a student progresses through the chapters. There is also a chapter on the real-time experience of implementing a model into a manufacturing environment for machining. The chapter deals with generation, verification and simulation of Tool Path to create CNC (Computer Numerical Codes) to produce the designed parts from multiple-axis and even advanced CNC machines.

The examples and exercise problems used in each chapter are designed so that they will be finally assembled as the chapters progress. Teachers and students in courses covering computer-aided design as well as engineers who self-study computer-aided design should check out NX 10 for Engineering Design.
