How to get a list of the new, unread posts?

Esteemed Contributor
Esteemed Contributor

It would be nice to get a list of new, unread posts since the last visit as it is possible with all the other forum software around.

Currently one has to enter each category of interest and check it out one-by-one.

Thanks in advance for any enlightening Smiley Wink

And on a somewhat related topic....

One you get to a thread that has an update (i.e. someone added a reply) have a button to go to "first unread reply"  (or is there a button that is so obvious that I'm missing it?)

As replies pile up (particularly if more than one "page" is available) it is hard to remember what the last one I read is, to know where to pick up reading.

Thanks...Ken

Hi Ken,
sure, I know how to find my way into each of the separate forum boards and their sub boards to find the new threads and posts.

I was hoping to be able to get a search like "new posts since last visit".

I would like what you suggest too.

In the old vBulletin, there was a "new posts" button at the top that displayed exactly what you (and I want)

But I want more :-)

When you get to a thread, particularly one with more than a couple replies, it would be nice to have a button to jump to the "newest unread" reply

What I found is that if I hit the caption of the tread in the thread table, I am always shown the first new reply, so you might just have to test it.

You're right! I hadn't noticed that.

But if I'm finished reading a post, and click on the "Previous Topic" post to get the next one (rather than going to hte "main" page for that group), it doesn't do that (it just drops you at the original post).

And the logic of "previous topic" vs. "next topic" is bass-ackwards (IMHO!)

At least compared to vBulletin

I am always using the browsers back button, so I don't run into this trouble.

The forum software seems to update the previous page on the back button too, so I can distinguish between read and unread topics easily.
