2D cross section with Lathe Cross section tool

Is it possible to use Lathe Cross-section (Menu-> Tools-> Lathe Cross Sectio) to slice your solid body into 2D planes that can be exported into a 2D file format?

I have already figured this out with 4 point planes and intersections (http://community.plm.automation.siemens.com/t5/NX-Design-Discussion-Forum/Solution-slicing-a-part-an... but I am trying to come up with an alternative method

thanks

First, I would use the spun outline in turning, which creates a 2D bourndary representing the spun solid.

You should be able to extract the boundary members with an API program

You could also use the Information button in the Part Boundaries dialog, which creates a text listing of all the member paramters.

If all you looking for is the section curves you can use the Section Curve tool.

Set the type to Radial Planes.
