4th axis C table not allowed

Experimenter
Experimenter

Hey guys,

we have the post processor for a Deckel FP4 in our company. But when I open it, it's completely set up for 3 axis milling. Our machine has an additional 4th C axis, which I try to implement by making a new post based on the old one and the machine tool setting 4th axis with rotary table. When I choose the plane of rotation XY inside the postbuilder 8.0, i get the error: 4th axis C table not allowed. The other two axis would work fine but are useless for me.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Regards,

Bernd

Hi Bernd,

A colleague offers this answer:

The C-axis is a redundant axis in this configuration and would have an infinite number of solutions for each position.

In principle the C-axis will not do anything unless the Rotate UDE is used.

Another alternative is to use the “3-axis Mill-Turn (XZC)” post as the solution for using the C-axis instead of Y-axis. However this configuration is not supported by any of the Sinumerik Controllers. The code for translating XYZ into XZC is fairly simple though.

He might need to swap the post, based on what he wants to do with it.

His choice will depend on what he wants to accomplish with that rotary axis. He can’t use the all 4 simultaniously.

Hope this helps.
