I am new with NX Cam, can you guys teach me how to machine the attached photo of an object by a 5-axis machine using nx cam express without using the surface area as drive method. Client wants to know a faster and easier way to machine similar objects as show. Client does not want to make a half sphere just to make it as a drive method.

I would like to advise you to have a look at one of our newest enhancements, which we introduced into NX12.0.1. The Variable Axis Guidung Curves. The Benefit of this new operation type is, that you don't need to define any projection vector and the handling is much easier then with Streamline.
Let me guide you step by step on how I would do such a part. At the end of my reply I attached a video with the complete workflow.
1. Create a CSYS above the part in the middle, where you can attach your Sketch in 2.
2. Create a Sketch and draw a circle with a small diameter (smaller or equal the Stepover in the operation) exactly in the middle of the part.
3. Project the circle onto the part geometry (see pictures below)
4. Create a Variable Axis Guiding Curves Operation (picture below)
5. Select the cut area
6. Select the two curves where the operation should morph in between
7. Make your choice of the cut pattern and define the value of the stepover.
8. Define the Tool Axis with Away from Point. Other methods can also be done, but this is my prefered one because easy to handle and avoids to create drive geometry etc.
9. Generate and review your toolpath :-)

I can say that guiding curves is quite good new drive method. We can drive cut pattern,I have to say good job.
But in this case, streamline has less clicks than guiding curves, so streamline could be a bit faster.
->Specify 1 point as a flow1 and 2nd flow as down edge
+ projection vector
Played around a bit with Variable Axis Guiding Curves. I have another workflow, where you don't need any geometry creation or Tool Axis selection. So this is a very fast way programming and a beautiful toolpath as a result.
Only choosing one Guide curve and pattern type Constant Offset (picture below)
Using Fixed as Tool Axis and Tilt/Retract as the Avoidance option (picture below)

I remember I have simillar test part.
I was trying to set operation in the same way.
I generates path in few seconds but still "work in progress" path disappear and take time
So I canceled the calculation.
