hello,

Is there some easier way to specify open area?

To specify some cavity - no problem - tangent/ connected curves and we can generate.

But if there is a open cavity/slot we have to create sketch or specify points what is not very comfortable.

Because if we pick perimeter  - it is closed boundary/area and tool do helical engage.

Thats why I log ER on GTAC to have possibility to specify Cut area months ago - to pick faces by clicking or by selection in  view.

Or is there some easier way to specify open area?

I tried to ignore "small areas", so I got the desired result. 
this worked even if the area to be ignored was larger than the one being machined,
as it was open and not closed. Have it tested in NX12.0.2

*If I pick it as face boundary I get helical engage into close area. Dont want this.

I want machine it as open area. With side clearence.

*If I pick open curve (the tangent one) - error message - problem with boundary.

hy,

there is no way do have a choice but you can ignore small areas, and if you make the sice for small areas great it maybe helps you for ignoring closed areas.
