By the end of January, we expect to release CAM EAP 24 for evaluation and providing feedback to enhancements we are working on. In the Complex Milling area this EAP will expose many “goodies” we were working on recently. I want to provide a list of those with some high-level description. Those of you who are interested in one or more of these enhancements – please send me a mail with the following details: Company Name, Sold-to ID, contact person, main + sub Topic to evaluate. I will add you to the EAP customers list (if you are not part of it already) and per enhancement – will send materials better describing the functionality, workflow and known issues. if you do not have a valid NDA signed - you will need to sign it to get the EAP version and License.
Main Topic |
Sub topics |
evaluation Status |
Details |
5X Roughing |
|
Initial |
Multi-levels Roughing where the cut levels are offsets from arbitrary floor / ceiling or interpolation between the two. Cut pattern is follow part or adaptive with option for bottom up cutting. Support any tool type. Tool axis – perpendicular to the cut level |
Multi-blade – blade finish |
Swarfing - new alignment settings |
Final |
More control over the collision Handling– ‘Contact Top and Bottom’, ‘Degouge’ and ‘Balance’ stock. Also improved control to the extension Alignment |
Guiding Curve |
Barrel Mill support |
Initial |
Allow “Swarfing” with Tangent Barrel. User control for the ‘Swarf Angle’ and Ring Height (Default, Constant and Variable). Use Tilt Tool Axis (TTA) to smooth the path. Taper Barrel tools are partially supported. |
|
T-cutter |
Final |
Finish walls using T-cutter with full radius |
|
Trim / extend |
Initial |
Control the coverage of a Guiding Curves operation with morphing pattern by trimming / extending the cut area. In some case you can combine those to get a flaring extension. |
|
Interpolate along axis |
Final |
New Tool Axis option for axis-symmetric geometries allow the user to set various 4+1 angles relative to the rotary axis and Guiding Curves would interpolate the Tool axis in between. |
|
Parametric interpolation |
Initial |
New tool axis option. To some extent like Interpolate Vector with ‘U’ or ‘V’ in Surface Contouring |
|
Smart tool axis regenerate |
Initial |
Guiding Curves now allow to play with the Tool-Axis to optimize its behavior, and the regeneration is extremely quick (path / contact with the part would not regenerate). The environment also allows you to analyze various aspects of the tool path without leaving the operation edit dialog. |
Usability |
Flat dialogs (GC, Multi-Blade) |
Initial |
New templates using the Flat dialogs infrastructure to optimize the look and feel of these operations. |
|
Guided Workflow(?) |
Initial |
|
|
PoP in Op edit |
Initial |
From within the operation edit dialog you can now Pick on path to show the tool, play its animation, show with material removal, filter cut levels etc. |
CAM Robotics |
CSE Simulation – KUKA Robots |
Initial |
G-Code base Simulation (CSE) for robots using KUKA controller. Ability to work directly from NX or upload external program |
|
Multiple Robots cell |
Initial |
Support cells with more than 1 robot working together to machine a part. |

Eddy_Finaro,
Hello,
Does 1847 include CAM EAP 24?

No Wxy,
NX 1847 development was closed a while back, while we progressed with the various developments. somo of the projects are embeded in 1847 and hidden behind ENV or missing templates, but for most the condition is inferior than the current state. are you interested in any in particular?

Hello Eddy,
when the EAP 24 will start? We have some niche parts to test the 5X Roughing.
Thank you

Hi Nicolas and others,
The version and documentations are ready for a while, but some administrative and legel changes has to happen before you will get a mail with download and instalations instructions from GTAC.
The CAM EAP was renamed and it is called from now EVP - 'Early Validation Program'.
The ones registered to the program will get the lic file from GTAC and not from the product manager.
Nicolas - have you registered to the program already?
Sorry for the delay. hope the version will become available soon.
Eddy
