CMM and IPW or Offset ?

Hello together, how about Offsets in CMM ?? Example I have a part with PMI. The finish Hole have 20 but for some reason i need first predrilled to 15. After my 1 manufacturing step i want to measure with CMM or i want to auto generate a program. In CAM its no problem because i can use in my 2 step the IPW and my tools know where is material and where not. But how about the CMM ??? I think the CMM only know the finish dimension. thx

Re: CMM and IPW or Offset ?

While it is true that the program is created from the nominal geometry the user can always over-ride the nominal size for a feature. In your example, when you specify a diameter tolerance for a underszied hole, just enter the predilled size. The CMM program produced will then check against this size instead of the nominal size from the finished part.
