To nitpick...(sorry)

What you're asking for is both top down & bottom up

- "Top Down" major increments (flute length, more or less)

- "Bottom up" between major increments to clear out remaining material

 

Although for parts similar to original poster's, there may be cases that you could just "bottom up" the whole thing (if the walls taper enough that what you're cutting never exceeds the flute length)

to further nitpick...yes these toolpaths offer "Top Down" then "Bottom Up", but also strictly "Bottom Up", its simply a matter of how you set up cut levels.9-11-2014 10-19-49 AM.png

Thats the volumill tool path in NX? I'm a small shop and already feel like I'm getting killed by maintence charges...don't want to drop anymore money into volumill.

I ordered a feedmill to just Z level ramp it down.....
