Drive profile Fixed Tool Axis - Contour Bottom

I would like to drive(side of endmill) a closed profile using a surface (cylinder) as the part surface to control the bottom of the cutter, instead of a plane. Which milling method should I use?

Thanks.

[ Edited ]

Use fixed axis surface contouring operation.

Drive method: boundary ( your closed profile)

Part: the cilindrical surface

Projection vector: Tool Axis or  Specify Vector

If this is not what you are trying to achieve, please provide more information/example.

Hi,

Have you tried Solid Profile 3D if you want to run on 3 axis machine ?

Re: Drive profile Fixed Tool Axis - Contour Bottom

Hi,

I did not get a chance to try 'Solid Profile 3D'.  I ended up staying in 'Mill_Planer'.

and using a canted plane approximated thru 3 points that is close enough to the

cylinder at the profile.

Thanks you for the suggestions.
