FBM hole_making.DEEP_HOLE_DRILLING Add-on Cycle

[ Edited ]

Hello there,

I am working on FBM hole_making.DEEP_HOLE_DRILLING operation. In the Add-on of type "Cycle", there are two groups of classes for Single Moves Motion Output, one is "expand", the other is "interrupt". I was wondering what is the difference between these two.

Besides, under expand.'Deep Drilling', I was wondering if there is a parameter for turning off the "Dwell", such as "Dwell Mode__Toggle", and if there is a parameter for setting the Location of Retract Conditions as "At Bottom"/"At Top".

Thanks,

Kai

Re: FBM hole_making.DEEP_HOLE_DRILLING Add-on Cycle

Hi Kai,

There is no difference (anymore) between "expand" and "interrupt". You should use "expand".

Turning the Dwell to off is done by setting the Dwell Type to "Off" (= default).

To have the retract conditions activated at bottom with or without tip release is activated by setting the cycle tip release toggle. For through holes the retract conditions will then be activated at bottom, for blind holes a small retract move will be inserted to release the tip before activation of the retract conditions (like spindle off).

Length of this tip release move is specified by cycle_tip_release_distance (limited to not exceeding the distance to the top).

To have the retract conditions at "Top" do set the cycle_tip_release_distane__Toggle  = "false".

Thanks,

Toon

Thanks, Toon. I was wondering what is the difference between toggling off the "Active" under Dwell and setting the Dwell Mode as "Off", and how to toggle off the "Active" option.

Thanks,

Kai

Re: FBM hole_making.DEEP_HOLE_DRILLING Add-on Cycle

Hi Kai,

For "Dwell at Drilling Depth" the "Off" value has less value since the latest Ui enhancement that did add the Active toggle into the UI. (Note that this same dwell parameter is included in other cycle types that have been released in preceding versions).

"Off" has value for "Dwell at Final Drilling Depth". In case "Dwell at Final Drilling Depth" is not set active, the previous definition applies to all depths, including the final depth. Activation of "Dwell at Final Drilling Depth" with value "Off" overrides this to have NO dwell output at final depth, with "On" explicitly defines it to be the same (which has the same effect as not active),  with "Seconds" and "Revolutions" a different value will be defined.

In case "Dwell at Starting Point" is not set active, no dwell will be output (active with mode "Off" defines the same in an explicit manner), active with mode "On" will output the same dwell as defined per "Dwell at Drilling Depth",  with "Seconds" and "Revolutions" a different value will be defined.

Thanks,

Toon

Re: FBM hole_making.DEEP_HOLE_DRILLING Add-on Cycle

Thanks for the detailed information, Toon. In MKE, under the Add-on of type "Cycle", class "expand.Deep Drilling", is there a parameter for toggling off the Dwell "Active" option? A parameter like 'Engage Coolant Mode__Toggle' or 'Cut Coolant Mode__Toggle'?

Thanks,

Kai

Re: FBM hole_making.DEEP_HOLE_DRILLING Add-on Cycle

Hi Kai,

Unfortunately these three dwell parameters do not have a toggle parameter. This toggle parameter is available for optional parameters. These 3 are made available as mandatory parameters (with default value Off).

Engage Coolant Mode is an example of a parameter that has been configured as an optional parameter (default state : not active)

Thanks,

Toon
