When using flowcut, before the tool engages the part and after it retracts from the part there are long

plung and lift cuts

 How do I shorten or get rid of those lengths

it would be better if you attach part or picture to let us know more about situation. Now we can only guess.

But you can try to set smaller or zero values for clearances (Cutting Parameters -> Clearances). These values can cause that engage or retract moves are longer, especialy if the tool is close to shape (if it is not cause by non cutting moves settings)

Probably caused by the collision check under non-cutting moves > more... > Collision check.
