Forget about color, it is not reliable enough to base MKE decisions on it.

If multiple colors are found, then the first color encountered will be used and turned into a negative value.

The most reliable way is to use face attributes, where all known attributes will be added to the FBM features attribute list.

Hi SeanHAI,

What would you like to achieve by using color detection?  A month ago you open a thread regarding the same topic. Maybe we can help you to find a workaround.

As Stefan said, color detection is not reliable. It is better to build your machining strategies up based on feature attributes.

Cause, if using face attributes then it will add extra works for the customer. Customer dont want to spend time on adding face attributes to each features

Hi SeanHAI,

Fair point. Nevertheless, that's a software limitation and we, the users, won't be able to fix it. You could try to explain to your customer the perks of spending some time adding attributes, it is not only about the color recognition but also about the robustness of FBM.

Have you submitted an IR regarding this topic? If so, share the IR number. I'll ask to be linked to it.

There are functions available in NX that allow setting colors and attributes in one go, see face color management and manufacturing geometry, which are part of the tooling design applications, but don't need an extra tooling license to use.

Sure one can apply colors easily, but it is as easy to corrupt these colors.

You only need one split second to make the color go away, what do you do if that happens?

How would you restore colors when they are gone?

Use one of the function mentioned above and you have the best of both worlds:

  1. apply color and attributes in one go
  2. ability to restore face colors if lost
  3. stable way to handle FBM requirements

Hope this helps.
