How to read tool path data by using NX Open ?

Hello Everyone,
I would like to read the data from tool path file which is generated by Siemens NX.

for example (in List Tool Path) :
GOTO/-38.0000,-36.0397,20.0000
...
GOTO/-33.7000,-36.0397,20.0000
...

The objective is read the numerical data for each row when I simulate Tool Path Visualization.
Hence, I can know the distance of tool path route by using program.

Is it possible doing the the task by using NX Open program?

Thank you

You can get the listing format by generating a CLS file and reading it.

However, the length of the cutting and non cutting moves us already part of the operations, and set as mom variables when you post. If you turn on the "Distance" column in the Operation Navigator and hover over the total distance value, you will see all three values. Is this the infromatio you are looking for?

Re: How to read tool path data by using NX Open ?

Thank you for the reply Mr. Markrief,

Actually I wonder to know how to access the tool path listing directly when I run tool path visualization..
And the way to access it by using NX Script program, e.g Visual Basic .Net or C#

I have read the documentation NX8 NXOpen .Net API Reference and found the function to get Cutting Location,

public Point CutLocation { get; set; }

But I don't know to use it, because the lack of tutorial in documentaion.

Re: How to read tool path data by using NX Open ?

The API you reference is for sections on drawings in drafting.

The API documentation is part of the NX Documentation install. Start by selecting the Programming Tools chapter. If it is not there, be sure that it was selected when the documentation was installed.

Let me try to explain the tool path...

The internal tool path is not readable. It is a binary structure of motions and events. When you see for example "GOTO/..." in a listing, that is not the actual tool path - it is a readable format generated from the internal tool path. To get this format you need to list the tool path or output a CLS file - both will produce the same text.

Sorry Mr. Mark Rief for late reply, because I still get in problem and don't have any answer

Maybe the exact problem in this question

How to obtain the Cutter Location points without generating and reading
from CLS file, Since I need to do some necessary calculations and
modifications, back and forth, to some of Cutter Locations of interest
without necessarily generating the CLS file

Thank you very much

Hi Saripudin,

Based on Mark's previous response, I don't think it is possible to do what you want. Why don't you want to use the CLS output?
