How to represent an "Over-turning" tool in NX?

Hi all,

I have a request to add an 'over-turning' tool to our NX library. Im a little stuck as to the best way to represent this tool or even if it can be done?

My initial thought was just to set it up as a normal boring bar and then offset it away from the holder centre if that makes sense but is this even possible for a 'milling' tool?

Anybody done anything similar?

Picture of the tool attached.

Thanks,

Adam

Hello @AdamCAM

You can probably make a 3d model of the tool and use that for verifiction setting the cut and non cut portions of the tool with the spun outline. I'm not sure you can make a treppanning style tool with the basic tool creation options. You will have to force the operation if it's refui\sing to cut as you want. If you provide a sample pat and some basic dimensions for the tool we can probably give a reasonable solution.

Paul
