How to rough this 4th axis part?

[ Edited ]

Material is 316 stainless and the maximum tool you can get through to rough and still have stock is 5/32

I tried slow feed slotting but tool did not last.

I thought about using an 1/8 and trichodial paths but I can only get that going one direction because NX can not 4th axis wrap out of the box.

I've reached out to Chigsev for his plugin but until then kinda scratching my head on this one...

From my experience - I can advise make few cutting levels. For few first level you can use more bigger tool.

Great! Question for topic starter - can you show "final result" in metal? Any images or movies from CNC?

Re: How to rough this 4th axis part?

Yes. I will post final picture of machined part today. Should be done in a couple hours. I "babied" speeds and feeds since only 2 pieces for samples (stepover is very fine as well).
