IPW - TOOL ASSEMBLY

Solution Partner Creator Solution Partner Creator

Hi community,
I would like to know if It is possibile use the command "SHOW 3D IPW" and the blank geometry "IPW" with the IPW obtains from tools assembly and not from parametric tools.

Because I have some special tools so my parametric tools and assembly tools are different.

I can't find any options to solve this problem.

Thanks and happy new year!!!
Marco

I think you can only do this by using "Tool Path => Verify => 3D Dynamic".

What NX release are we talking about?

I'm using NX 11.02.
I can also save the 3D IPW realize by means of tool assemblies but obviusly I would like to use IPW automatically..

The only way currently is to request an enhancement for this ability.

The work-around of using a static faceted body is not really elegant.

How big is the difference of the tools, since it doesn't make sense to have a huge difference.

Yes, If you hit "Show 3D IPW" it will show with NX parametric tools applied, not your 3D tools.

Doing the 3D verify applies your 3D tools and lets you see the proper IPW

You can always save this IPW is you want to use it later,

I agree, an option would be nice that if an assembly tool does exist, that a message popped up giving you the choice. But no message unless there is an actual assembly tool present. We do not need any more dialogs to click on.

Tool path gouge check, verify and simulation allow selecting between "parametric tool" or "tool assembly", so a similar approach could be used for the IPW. This might be a customer default or an option of the operation, since in most cases the rotated tool assembly is the same as the parametric tool.
