IPW - Unable to update

Valued Contributor
Valued Contributor

Hi,

I want to use the IPW from setup_1 in setup_2 but get an error that the IPW is not able to update because not all the operations are generated.
Below you can see a picture of the program view from setup_1.

There are 7 operations where I used the "tilt tool axis" function, and the toolpath doesn't show a green checkmark becaus it's edited.

Is this the reason why the IPW is not able to update?

Have you already created the IPW in the background for all operations?

It is best to select it from the context menu of the program group.

The second colomn with checkmarks is the colomn of the IPW.
Below is the same picture but with the names of the colomns.

The work instuctions are not placed under the workpiece.

How does it look like below the workpiece geometry group?

It would not hurt to create the IPW in the background, since sometimes it is not registered as up-to-date.

Not sure what you mean with "How does it look like below the workpiece geometry group?".

I created the IPW in the background and 2 drilling operations did not create an IPW.

The problem is probably because I created 2 workpieces as you can see in the picture of the program group.

The reason I did this is because the part has holes in the corner so there was no radius and I had some trouble getting the toolpaths I wanted.

So I made WORKPIECE_1 were I removed the holes so I had sharp corners again. With the sharp corners I get the toolpaths that I wanted.

Below you can see an example of the corners..

For now I saved the IPW from the 3D simulation and used that in Setup_2.

But do you have any suggestion how I should do this in the future?

Sometimes I create multiple workpieces with auxillary geometry but I'm not sure if thats a correct way of working.

If you want I can send you the files but I cant post them on a public forum.

The geometry view shows the problem, there must be green check-marks up to the top most workpiece for the IPW.

I would move workpiece_1 to the same level as workpiece to have them independent from each other, make sure IPW check-marks are all green and retry.

BTW, generate IPW from the context menu will create the IPW despite of the operation type for all operation types, even those that usually don't create one on their own.
