Issue with lathe grooving tool at and angle - Tracking point

Pioneer

Hi,

I have an angular rectangular groove to be turned. Eg: Width 8mm and depth 12 mm with .8CR.

I wanted to define the tracking point in NX the same way as we establish tool datum on the machine. (Please find attached image)

However, in NX I could find only the option to define the tracking point with respect to any one of the two corner radii.

I was wondering if there is a way to define the virtual intersection of both the extreme tangent points of the tool in X and Z axis?

Many Thanks,

Jithesh

Can't be done as of now (12.0.1).

I'm pretty sure there's an ER, but I can't seem to find the number right now.

meant to say - this is also useful on a "C" insert when you're using the 100 degree angle.

Also, most machines (that I've encountered) allow you to touch the tool off at a "normal" position (B0/90/180, depending on the machine) then rotate the tracking point to the angle needed (although if you don't have a B axis, this won't work...)
