MILL TURN ISSUE

[ Edited ]

Hello All,

I'm pretty new to Mill Turn, I have a question if someone can help out!

I have a Lathe 3 axis x,y, z with Live Tool. When I program Mill Turn, how can I specify Chuck Turn instead of Tool moving and vice versa?

Is it something need to be done with the Post

Thanks!

Re: MILL TURN ISSUE

Hi,

On a DMU 125FD with Siemens 840D Control we have a UDE we use in the milling section called "Coordinate Output Mode (DMG)" (pic A) then select XZC output (Pic B). In the operation navigator we keep turning and milling seperate

It is a post thing - but there is an out of the box ude meant to provide this capability. You can try "Lock Axis" ude. Pick the plane and then in that plane lock one of the linear axes as needed. XY motion should be replaced by a linear and a rotary.

Re: MILL TURN ISSUE

Take a look at some of the samples. Turn on the Start Events column in the Operation Navigator, and check out the UDEs. If you go to Menu > Help > Manufacturing Tutorials > Open a Sample Part, there is a basic mill turn sample, plus some more advanced ones like sim15.
