Hello All,

Please see attached picture.  I am trying to measure face to face along the Z axis.   I keep getting an angle measurement.  What am I missing?

Thanks!

It is not a angle measurement, just the maximum distance between your 2 faces
One way, select set distance follow vector ( vector normal to face ) and start again for the second face. You should find the correct measurement
A fast way , turn wcs normal to the first face or second face and measure...
Look this post for show information Window

You should find the distance follow Zc axis .

Thanks for your reply, but it went over my head by 4 feet.  I don't follow what you mean by:

select set distance follow vector ( vector normal to face )  or this: You should find the distance follow Zc axis .

Please help.

Thank you.

I don't think so, you just have to enable "show information window" and you will get the delta values for each WCS axis without the projected distance too.

Agreed the measurement system is very good.

I have put the measurement icon back on my "slim ribbon bar" see .gif

** also try "Geometric Properties" it is like the most useful button ever. Just hover over geometry and see info (especially helpful checking radii)**

Remember a time... back in 7.5, if you picked measure distance and then switched to projected distance...

all you had to do was pick the projection vector.

You did not lose your measurement picks... like you do now.

Those were the good ole days....

Have you reported the need to reselect the first and second object as a regression to GTAC?

If not, this will never get repaired.

I did right when I saw that it did not work anymore in NX8

Of course I'm in the boat that regularly mentions problems/idiosyncrasies in the speed and feed calculator, and we can see where that's going...

Development can be funny. "Geometric Properties" (great feature) new in 7.5, marked for retirement in 9.0, had to be turned on in customer defaults in 10. I Believe it is back in now...lol
