Alexander is right. Starting at NX1847 (major release next to NX12) you will be able to select two or more operations and merge them into one special program group somehow like Optimized_NC in Hole Making. it will support several merging rules i.e.

  • Concantenation - operations are merged in sequence, but if the end of a certain operation is close to the begining of next - the connection will be on the cut area in a smooth manner.
  • By Contour - in the simple version 1st contour from 1st operation is performed, then 1st contour from 2nd operation, 3rd operation etc. till the last operation and then 2nd contour from 1st operation etc.
  • By contour will also allow merging a semi-finish operation having 10 leves and a finish operation having 50 levels such that after the first semifinish pass - 5 finishing passes will perform before going to the next depth.
  • the infrastructure allows to add more merge rules as needed.

(this solution is of course associative and can be used as part of your templates..)

It is available in the EAP versions if someone is interested in trying it out and report back feedback.

@Vora - does this seem to address your initial request?
