Multi Blade Rough operation with bullnose mill

Pioneer
Pioneer

Hello

I am having a problem with bullnose mills in multi blade rough operation.

We are machining a fairly big impeller and i would like to machine first two rough operations with 32mm and 25mm indexable endmills.

Is bullnose supported for roughing?

Hi Jussi,

Yes, Bull Nose tool is supported for Roughing operation I beleive that starting at 10.0.X or so.

if you try it and it does not work - please let me know. the setting is simple - just replace the ball tool with appropriate Bull nose and regenerate.

Hello

It does make tool path, but I would not say that is working.

I attached set of pictures from roughing operation, it uses 25mm indexable cutter with R1=2.5mm.

I seems that toolpath is generated to ball mill regardsless of bullnose is used in operation.

Lead angle seems to work for bullnose.

There are issues with toolneck, shank and holder collision, check toll and holder is aplied.

Holder distence 5.0mm, shank 3.0mm and neck 0.5mm.

Tool path leaves way too much stock for blades, max 13mm and 1mm blade stock is applied in operation.
