NX 10.0.3 Extremely Slow Performance Opening Floor Wall

Legend
Legend

When I copy / plaste or create a new Floor Wall and use "Follow Part" it really bogs down anytime a change is made. If you use a Zig Zag pattern it is very fast.

Containment > Blank > is set to Thickness with .100 on the floor default.

"Initiliaizing the In Process Workpiece from the Geometry Group" shows at the bottom while this delay happens where I can not do anything else. Simple parts and simple cuts.

I'm using an i7-5930K CPU @ 3.50GHz and 24GB of ram so I dont think its the computer?

NX 10.0.3.5 MP9

Anyone have any ideas?

Timed this occurance

12 seconds from opening a Floor Wall Operation until it responds and lets me change a setting.

Seems related to the other drive methods now too.

Couple reboots

Upgrade to MP10

Upgraded my Quadro K4200 drivers

No change

Turn off preview and it is good.

I wonder.... could this be because my workpiece stock is "offset" = .010?

If your blank geometry in the workpiece group is an offset from the part geometry, this could be a real problem, since the part might be complex with many faces.

Generally it is good to disable the preview in the customer defaults for floor-wall operations, which disables the preview for each newly created floor-wall operation after the change of the customer default.

Hi Stefan

But what I dont understand is why the toolpath is looking at the IPW anyway when blank is set to thickness???

Should only look at the face which I selected

If there is any kind of blank specified it will be used.

If you can, you should report the problem to GTAC with the part submitted, so that performance can be improved in the future.

If you don't need the IPW aware floor wall operation use the regular one.

The product manager for this is traveling, but he suspects the preview. If you turn off preview, is the performance what you would expect? If you log a call with GTAC, he can take a look at your part when he returns.
