ehh again I have some problems - now with variables...

For Nx 9.0 I made a customization folder visible in annex. There is a copy of ugii_env.dat with new variable inside :

# My resource area
# -------------------------------------------------------
 UGII_CAM_RESOURCE_DIR=D:\NX__9_Jakub_CAM_custom\resource\
#
# My bitmaps
# -------------------------------------------------------
 UGII_USER_DIR=D:\NX__9_Jakub_CAM_custom\usertools\
 UGII_BITMAP_PATH=${UGII_USER_DIR}bitmaps
#

But when I starting Nx from this customization folder , after log file generating I recive information belov:

 Using ugii_env.dat file from D:\NX__9_Jakub_CAM_custom
A manifest env file has not been loaded
 Using ugii_env_ug.dat file from C:\Program Files\Siemens\NX 9.0\ugii\\ugii_env_ug.dat

Some variables are captured from new folder but without

UGII_USER_DIR & UGII_CAM_RESOURCE_DIR

NX still getting all settings from main resource file with templates from UPDATE folder.

Why are all our settings wiped every time there is a MR release?
Can't someone figure out how to store these as values in an excel sheet or something? Upgrading NX is one of the worst flaws of the software....

Every time there is an update you have to go back and change all your defaults...

Your templates are NOT overwritten in a maintenance release if they are in the resource folder.

Making it easier to merge templates from the main release with maintence updates and user customizations is an area that we are looking at. The addition of the updates folder was just the first step.

Hello, thx for answers but I dont need bitmap path - You can see that I made some configurations about bitmaps (watch annex above) because all of my templates have visible bitmaps (folder C:\Program Files\Siemens\NX 10\MACH\resource\template_part\images).

This folder is for the images in the popup tool tips that appear when you hover the mouse over the operation icon.

Just I want to make some new operation icon like Mark had in his presentation (my pocket).

I was looking for the Nx folder which keeps operation icon but I can not find it ...

Bitmaps for the operation icons go in UGII_BITMAP_PATH

Scroll down in the log file. What are the definitions of these?

UGII_CAM_RESOURCE_DIR

UGII_BITMAP_PATH

You have right, in the bottom part of log file i found this variables.

Now I think it should be ok, I changed only location to C:\users\hostname\demo

See in attachment log.jpg for verification

But still, when Im running NX from C:\Users\hostname\demo - program sees operations only from update folder ...

my hostname = jandrys

So step by step , what I'am doing :

1) modyfing template from C:\Users\jandrys\demo\resource\template_part\metric\mill_contour.prt

2) saving template .prt in C:\Users\jandrys\demo\resource\template_part\metric

3) starting NX from C:\Users\hostname\demo

4) getting started with manufacturing >>  setting selection of group mill_contour

5) cam operations are visible but still from C:\Program Files\Siemens\NX 9.0\MACH\updates

Nx should see operations stored in demo folder ?

If I'am asking strange questions , sorry for that - this is my beginning with creating cam templates Smiley Happy

Hello,
What text editor have you used to edit the env file?
If you have used Notepad++ there is an issue where it won't read your changes with NX10?

Problem solved  >>  I found this helpful link in google:

http://www.designfusion.ca/designfusion_blog/how-do-you-change-the-default-settings-in-the-operation...

For everyone with maybe same problem :

Note: NX 9 & 10 added a new folder for updates. This folder contains the updated copies of the operation templates when you install a QRM or patch. The folder is:   C:\Program Files\Siemens\NX 9.0\MACH\updates\template_part

The option to ignore this updated file is found in the Customer Defaults, under Manufacturing - General. If toggled off the original files are loaded.

Now I have my own functional resource file for safety work with templates, everything works, icons, tooltips etc. I paste my example template to attachments - created same way as Mark did.

I think it might also be helpful for other users Smiley Happy
