I don't believe Siemens is using that for cam calculations but I may be wrong. There is a lot of power in GPU processing and the prospect is very interesting. I have built workstations in the past with three graphics in a SLI configuration and are close to making another with 3-4 1080 Ti cards. Although those are not CAD cards they still perform decently for CAD/CAM and have a lot of processing power for grid computing such as Folding@home which I participate in. What makes it interesting is multi-GPU's are absolutely way more powerful than any CPU for crunching grid work units. Perhaps someone from development can chime in on this topic but I imagine if Siemens is working on alternative computing methods it is not being discussed publicly.
